Miss Amy May's Spring Style Picks
Ah spring, you perfect middle-ground season. There’s many a thing I adore about this time of year--the frolicking lambs, the blooming flowers, the first whiff of freshly mowed grass. The thing I love most about spring in regards to my wardrobe, specifically, is how versatile a season it is. You can opt for pastels and florals, like a sweet little Easter bunny babe, or you can pick brights, stripes, as many bold things as you can layer, like a walking promise of the coming summer. Wedges are no longer a ridiculous shoe choice like they are in winter, and even your cute little ballet flats look more seasonally appropriate now you aren’t wearing them stubbornly while you shiver a little. No matter what part of your wardrobe you ponder, there's a way to make it shine in springtime.
So it's probably no great surprise that as soon as the flowers begin to blossom I start to get that itch--no, no, not allergies. Shopping. I want to top up my closet with new pretty sun dresses, cardigans in colors I somehow don't own, new tie up sandals, pink lipsticks, more bangles--always, always more bangles. I love seeing the new prints being released after months of dark colors and heavy fabrics on offer. And most of all (contented sigh,) I love doing it from the comfort of my own home in my well worn PJ's. What a beautiful life.
Given all that, I couldn't resist having a lovely digital stroll through the Doll Me Up web store and drawing up a little list of all my favorite spring picks. Hold on to your purses, ladies, you're going to be needing them.
Tootsie Cropped Cardigans in Bronze and Orchid - Considering I own literally 10 or more Tootsie Cropped Cardigans, you'd think I'd have every shade I could possibly need or want. Wrong! Doll Me Up have added a handful of new shades recently and whaddayaknow, I need them. Bold Bronze and sweet Orchid? Yes please!
Tiki Time Bamboo Bangles in Light Brown Set of 4- Seriously, I wasn't joking when I said more bangles, always. I live in bamboo bangles from March to September and there's always room for more.
Voodoo Vixen Adelyn Dress - I love stripes and I love summer dresses, and this little number is a perfect combination of the two. The pom pom trim and frilly neckline are cute and fun, plus the adjustable shoulder straps and shirred elastic back panel mean this dress is going to fit well and wear comfortably, two big ticks in my book.
Are You Flor-eal? Dress in Jade Pineapple - This dress is as adorable as its pun-tastic name, of which I am a big fan. It's a beautiful shade of green, the floral and pineapple print is perfectly cute for summer, and that sweetheart neckline is gorgeous on every body type.
Shirley Gathered Skirt in Navy Flamingo Print- I love me a gathered skirt; I think the volume is fun and feminine whether you layer in a petticoat or not. This skirt, though, has got something extra special to offer; a smocked elastic waistband in the back, giving you ease of both sizing and movement. A skirt that won't fill me with deep regret after I've finished eating a massive burger? Come to mama! Plus, the navy flamingos print is sweet as can be.
Hell Bunny Kailey Belt in Black- Let's be real, sometimes staple accessory pieces are easy to find and sometimes they're a pain in the backside, and for some reason decent belts are the latter. This patent finish buckle belt can cinch in and finish off almost every outfit, a staple must-have for every pinup’s wardrobe.
Hell Bunny Bridget Top in Black and White Gingham- And finally, I had to choose something gingham because gingham is the fabric of spring and summer in a way almost nothing else is. It's gingham, strawberries, fresh blossoms and mowed grass, done. Holy grail combo. And this Hell Bunny top in particular, with its sassy keyhole neckline and peasant style cut, is such a versatile piece to rock through the warmer months, whether you're a lover of capri pants, pencil skirts or swing styles, or even all three!
